FIELD: metallurgical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions includes ultrasonic devices and a method for reducing the amount of dissolved gas and/or impurities in a molten metal bath. The ultrasonic unit comprises an ultrasonic transducer, a probe attached to an ultrasonic transducer, the probe comprising a tip, a gas supply system, the gas supply system comprising: gas inlet, gas passage through the probe and gas outlet at the probe tip, the probe being a single a component containing sialon, silicon carbide, boron carbide, boron nitride, silicon nitride, aluminium nitride, aluminium oxide, zirconia, or combinations thereof.
EFFECT: stability at elevated temperatures of the molten metal bath, providing a longer service life and limited chemical activity or lack thereof when interacting with a specific molten metal.
