FIELD: foundry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in production of metal castings with controlled grain size. Metal article containing cast metal having submillimeter grain size and containing less than 0.5 wt.% of grain grinders. Relative elongation of said metal is 10–30% at tensile force of 100 lb/sq in, and tensile strength is 50–300 MPa. Introduction of vibration energy into molten metal during cooling of this metal makes it possible to grind metal grain to submillimeter size with introduction of less than 0.5 wt.% of grain grinders.
EFFECT: reduced tendency to occurrence of hot cracks in metal article, which will make it possible to increase rate of metal pouring and its further processing and, thus, to increase productivity.
