FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, namely to processing of molten metal for the production of metal casts with a controlled grain size. A device for processing of molten metal contains a structure accommodating molten metal for reception and transportation of molten metal along its longitudinal length, and a cooling unit for the accommodating structure, including a cooling channel for fluid passage. An ultrasound probe is located in the cooling channel in contact with cooling fluid, providing transmission of ultrasound waves through fluid in the cooling channel and through the structure accommodating molten metal to molten metal.
EFFECT: obtaining a cast product with equiaxial grains is provided without formation of columnar crystals and without the need for introduction of grain-grinding additives.
