FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: control detail having a geometric shape identical to a controlled object is scanned by an ultrasound beam, and the amplitude passed through the detail is measured in order to display cartography on its base. The ultrasound beam is amplified with a control amplification gain, corrections are made to the amplification gain to correct the control amplification gain at the scan points of the control detail so as to obtain the amplitude of the ultrasound beam transmitted through the detail that is constant for all the mapping points, and perform scanning and measuring the amplitude at the controlled object. The amplification gain applied at various points of the scan corresponds to the control amplification gain, corrected by means of these corrections.

EFFECT: providing an opportunity to control the object, allowing to neglect the complexity of the geometric shape of the controlled object, and provide an opportunity to identify defects in the structure of the controlled object regardless of the thickness of the object.
