FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: described method includes performing distributed acoustic probing on one at least optical fibre placed so to monitor the design. An acoustic response to transport over the network in the vicinity of said design is detected and analyzed to determine the acoustic response of the design. The acoustic response of the design is then analysed to determine any change in the state. Said method uses conventional traffic over a network, such as trains on a railroad network for acoustic excitation of the design and detection of the resulting response.
EFFECT: possibility for continuous monitoring the state of the transport infrastructure design.
