SUBSTANCE: catcher (1) for the lift with at least one transport object located in the lift shaft with the possibility of movement along a guide rail and/or a brake rail, proposed in accordance with the invention, is suitable for the corresponding necessary braking and stopping the transport object on the guide rail and/or on the brake rail. The catcher (1) has a control plate (6) to install the brake mechanism and to position the brake mechanism relative to the guide rail and/or the brake rail, and the brake mechanism is made of at least two parts and includes a first brake element (7) and a second brake element (8), arranged with the possibility to rotate around a common axis (9). The first brake element (7) is generally made with the possibility of braking and stopping, when the transport object moves along a guide rail and/or brake rail in the upward direction, and the second brake element (8) is generally made with the possibility of braking and stopping, when the transport object moves along the guide rail (4) and/or brake rail in the downward direction. The catcher is used in the lift design and the object braking method.
