FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: at the first stage, the free part of the billet is formed by means of a punch with conical working surface until the moment of full contact with the conical working surface of the punch. The difference in thickness appearing at the first stage is eliminated at the second stage due to the action of active friction forces. In this case, on the free part of the billet, a section is formed close to cylindrical shape. In the thickest part of the billet, the additional tensile stresses occur in the clamping area, which results in thinning in this part and levelling of thickness over the entire volume of the conical part. The first and second stages provide forming only due to billet thinning.
EFFECT: improved quality of thin-walled axis symmetric workpiece by providing minimum differences in thickness.
