FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: original tellurium is heated to a temperature of 600-680°C to obtain a gaseous phase of tellurium. Carbon-containing hetero-inclusions of the gaseous phase of tellurium are interacted with a high-frequency plasma discharge in the conditions of a nonequilibrium plasma, with plasma gas roaming at a speed of 15 ml/min, which is used as the hydrogen or mixture of hydrogen with an inert gas. The tellurium ratio: transport gas in the gas-vapour mixture is 1:50. The volatile hydrides of the carbon-containing heterologous exclusions are removed. High-purity tellurium is deposited on the inner surface of the receiver heated by an external heating element of the receiver to a temperature of 430-480°C. The operating pressure is maintained at 1.9 Torr.
EFFECT: method reduces the amount of carbon-containing impurities as the yield of pure tellurium increases.
