FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ophthalmology and is intended for predicting optic nerve partial atrophy with Stargardt disease. Spectral optical coherence tomography is performed. Optic nerve partial atrophy is predicted with a retinal thickness of 245 mcm or less in the annular zone located 3–5 mm from the centre of the fovea and retina volume of 4.5 mm3 or less in the macular zone with a diameter of 6 mm.
EFFECT: method enables to predict the severity of the disease in a proband, predict for relatives and offspring of the proband, asses the severity of mutations detected in the patient, and conduct clinical and genetic correlations, conduct prenatal prophylaxis of children with severe mutations in the offspring of the proband before the onset of clinical manifestations of the disease.
