FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medical technology, namely to phototherapeutic means for production of vitamin D. Phototherapeutic unit contains a body, at least partially defining an irradiation zone with the possibility of placing at least a part of the patient's body therein, source of ultraviolet (UV) radiation in the housing and a filter disposed between the UV radiation source and the irradiation zone that contains the interference coating and is configured to at least eliminate UV radiation outside the predetermined spectrum, wherein the predetermined spectrum has a band of not more than 10 nm and is centered at about 297 nm, wherein the UV radiation source and the filter determine the focused ultraviolet-B (UVB) unit, which further comprises a reflector, at least partially surrounding the UV radiation source and configured to direct the UV energy radiated by the UV radiation source to the filter, and the reflector is configured to at least collimate the UV energy emitted by the UV radiation source, before the UV radiation source contacts the filter. In second embodiment of the phototherapeutic device, the focused UVB radiation unit is configured to deliver UVB radiation focused at approximately 297 nm and stimulating the production of at least 20,000 units of vitamin D in the human skin for a treatment period of less than 2 minutes. Method for delivering focused ultraviolet radiation includes transmitting ultraviolet rays toward the irradiation zone defined by the body, at least in part, filtering the ultraviolet rays outside the predetermined spectrum, the predetermined spectrum being centered at about 297 nm, and stopping transmission of the ultraviolet rays after 5 minutes or less, wherein the phototherapeutic unit is designed to stimulate the production of at least 20,000 units of vitamin D in the human skin for a treatment period of 10 minutes or less. Method of carrying out phototherapy for the production of vitamin D includes providing a phototherapeutic device having an irradiation zone with a focused ultraviolet-B (UVB) radiation unit, creating UV rays focused at least in a given spectrum by means of a focused UVB radiation unit, with the predetermined spectrum being in the range of about 290–306 nm, and delivering a dose of vitamin D to a patient in the irradiation zone for a predetermined period of exposure is no more than 10 minutes, wherein said dose of vitamin D stimulates the production of at least 20,000 units of vitamin D in the skin areas of the patient. Computer-readable medium for controlling a phototherapeutic unit contains commands that cause the phototherapeutic installation to perform a phototherapy method.
EFFECT: use of inventions allows to expand range of UVB radiation means for synthesis of vitamin D.
