SUBSTANCE: method is based on the calculation of dependency of the currents of direct, reverse and zero sequences calculated through appropriate voltages and currents from the end of the line section without a short circuit, from a distance, specified from zero to the length of the line. The required distance to the rupture point is determined when the sum of the currents of the direct, reverse, and zero sequences is zero. In this case, a phase with a rupture and a short circuit on it is taken as a special phase, with respect to which the currents and voltages of the direct, reverse, and zero sequences are determined.

EFFECT: improved accuracy.
