FIELD: electrical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method of determining the short-circuiting point on the power transmission line is performed by the following operations: in the transient modes monitoring system the negative sequence of the reverse circuit of the monitored electric network is created and monitored; in case of occurrence of short circuit, circuit of negative sequence substitution is corrected in part of resistance of negative sequence of EMF sources and loads through relations of negative sequence voltages to currents of EMF sources and loads; series of calculations of negative sequence currents is performed on both sides of the line at change of short circuit point on the line; comparing measured value of negative sequence currents on both sides of line with all calculated ones; point of short circuit is determined at point, where measured ratio of currents on both sides of line coincides with calculated one.

EFFECT: enabling application of the electric network architecture controlled by the transient modes monitoring system to determine the short-circuit point on the power transmission lines.
