FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ammunition, and in particular to automatic and rifle bullets, having a hard alloy core with a high penetration capability. Core has a gradient composition along the length and besides the hard alloy additionally contains ultrahard material in the head and tail portions. In the tail portion, it contains a heavy alloy. Tail portion has a front portion adjacent to the head portion and a rear portion. Content of ultrahard material changes gradually along the length of the core from 10–50 vol% in the head portion to 0–10 vol% on the boundary between said front and rear portions. Content of heavy tungsten alloy varies gradually along the length from 0–10 vol% on the boundary between said front and rear portions to 70–100 vol% in the tail end.
EFFECT: technical result is higher armour penetration and, in particular, the ability to pierce ceramic-based armoured plates.
