FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: to improve degenerated disc architecture and saturation with cells in a patient with degenerative changes in the intervertebral disc, a pharmaceutical composition containing hydrogel and selected homogeneous population of cells is introduced into the intervertebral disc in a quantity, effective for disease or condition treatment. In this case, the isolated homogeneous population of cells derived from human umbilical tissue is capable of self-renewal and reproduction in culture. The population has the potential for differentiation, it expresses, reticulon, chemokine receptor 3 ligand and/or granulocyte chemotactic protein, does not produce CD34, CD31 and HLA-DR, expresses elevated levels of interleukin 8 and reticulon 1 towards fibroblasts, mesenchymal stem cells or bone marrow cells, expresses CD10, CD13, CD44, CD73 and CD90, and does not express CD117 or telomerase. The hydrogel includes fibrinogen and thrombin. A method for improvement of cell saturation of a degenerated disc in a patient is also proposed.
EFFECT: restoration and regeneration of the intervertebral disc tissue in the patient.
