SILICONE HYDROGEL LENSES WITH WATER-RICH SURFACES Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61F2/14 G02C7/04 B29D11/00

Abstract RU 2645991 C1

FIELD: medicine; optical system.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to the silicone hydrogel contact lens comprising the following: the silicone hydrogel bulk material that is closed from the outer surface with the hydrogel layer that has the thickness of at least 0.1 mcm, where the silicone hydrogel bulk material includes (i) repeating units, which were obtained from the silicon-containing vinyl monomer, the silicon-containing vinyl macromer, the silicon-containing prepolymer, or from the combination thereof, and (ii) repeating units derived from the hydrophilic vinyl monomer, wherein the silicone hydrogel contact lens, in the fully hydrated state, is characterized by (1) good smoothness of the surface that is characterized by the critical friction coefficient of 0.046 or less, (2) the oxygen permeability of at least 40 barrels/mm in the fully hydrated state, (3) the water content from 10 up to 70 WT%, (4) hydrophilicity of the surface, which is characterized by the water film destruction time of at least 10 s, (5) the wettability of the surface, characterized by an average water wetting contact angle of about 80° or less, and (6) by the elastic modulus from 0.3 up to 1.8 MPa, where the silicone hydrogel contact lens possesses the silicon content on the surface, which is expressed in atomic percent and measured by means of REE for the silicone hydrogel contact lens in the dried state that is equal to 4 % or less, in conversion to the total content of the elements.

EFFECT: hydrated silicone hydrogel contact lens according to the invention possesses the high oxygen permeability, which is necessary in order to ensure the healthy state of the eye cornea, and to ensure the soft, water-enriched smooth surface in order to ensure comfort during wearing.
