SUBSTANCE: diffuse or spatially large sound objects are identified for processing. The decorrelation process is performed on the audio signals corresponding to the large sound objects to create decorrelated audio signals of the large sound objects. These decorrelated audio signals of the large sound objects are associated with the locations of the objects which can be stationary or time-varying locations. The decorrelated audio signals of the large sound objects are rendered for the locations of virtual or actual speakers. The output of such a rendering process is input to the process of the scene simplification. The decorrelation, association, and/or scene simplification processes are performed prior to the audio data encoding process.
EFFECT: improved signal processing of sound objects by specifying the location of each speaker within the playback environment.
