FIELD: acoustics.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus for presenting audio objects comprises one or more processors and one or more memory devices, configured to control at least one device for performing the following operations: receiving audio reproduction data, comprising one or more audio objects, wherein audio objects include audio signals and associated metadata, wherein metadata includes at least given positions of the audio object and audio object size data; calculating, for a sound object from one or more audio objects, virtual source gain values from virtual sources at corresponding locations of a virtual source within an area or volume of the audio object, determined by the audio object position data and the audio object size data; and calculating a set of gain values of the audio object for each of the plurality of output channels based on the at least partially calculated virtual source gain values, each output channel corresponding to at least one reproducing medium loudspeaker and each of said locations of virtual source corresponds to corresponding static location within reproduction medium. Process of calculating a set of values of the amplification coefficient of a sound object involves calculating a weighted average gain of the virtual source from virtual sources within the region or volume of the audio object.

EFFECT: technical result is improved localization of audio objects.
