FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device and method for sintering a powder material. Said device comprises a working chamber, a press for sealing the sintered powder, connected to the upper electrode and the lower electrode, wherein it is arranged to be placed in a mold between said electrodes of the sintered powder, wherein a capacitive circuit is connected to the upper and lower electrodes with the power unit and with a high-current switch for closing said capacitive circuit through a sintered sample. Capacitive circuit is made in the form of a capacitor bank with an equivalent capacitance in the range 50–1,000 mcF and a voltage of 0.5–15 kV, and a high-current switch is a transistor switch. Sintering of the powder is carried out using a capacitive circuit in the form of a capacitor bank with an equivalent capacitance in the range 50–1,000 mcF and a voltage of 0.5–15 kV, the sintered powder is simultaneously subjected to a pressure in the range of 1–200 MPa and compacted by pulses of an electric current of intensity 1–80 kA, repeated at a frequency of 0.1 to 100 Hz and generated by opening and closing the high-current switch, which is a transistor switch.
EFFECT: sintering of powder materials with the possibility of accurate and rapid temperature control is ensured, and in the case of sintering of materials based on diamond, the process is carried out without their graphitization.
