SUBSTANCE: Faraday isolator with a variable direction of the magnetic system field contains a polarizer mounted, a magneto-optical rotator mounted in the magnetic system done using permanent magnets, consisting of multiple magneto-optical elements separated by the half-wave plates, the optical axis of which are oriented at an angle of 45 degrees to the plane of the polarizer bandwidth, and an analyzer consistently located on the optical axis. The magnetic system is arranged so that adjacent optical elements are placed in the oppositely directed magnetic fields, and the sum of modules of the polarization plane steering angles in all magneto-optical elements is equal to 45 degrees.

EFFECT: design allows to use magnetoactive media with a low value of the Verde constant as active elements, which increases the compactness and reduces the price in production.
