FIELD: test equipment.
SUBSTANCE: method consists in operating a friction pair in the presence of a lubricant, passing an electric current through it with a fixed friction pair and with a steady-state friction regime. The electrical capacitance between the upper and lower surfaces of the finger-friction pair in the presence of a lubricant layer is determined and the dielectric constant of the test material and the orientation of the molecules in the layer are judged according to the obtained results. The higher the ordering factor of molecules in the oriented layer (closer to one), and the vector of preferential orientation of molecules coincides with the electric field vector created due to capacitance measurement, the higher the dielectric permittivity of the lubricant and the lubricating properties of the test sample; together with the capacitance measurements, a film thickness measurement is carried out using a laser meter; the results are obtained with a fixed friction pair and with steady-state friction mode, after which the effectiveness of the lubricant and the role of the triboactive components in the lubricant composition are judged by comparing the test data with the required parameters.
EFFECT: possibility of extending the range of evaluated properties of lubricants.
