FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fuel system (172) for internal combustion engine (10) and to a method of operating it. Method means increasing the pressure in the fuel rail connected to second injector (166) during operation of cylinder (14) using the fuel from first injector (170) with second injector (166) not used. Herewith, the pressure is increased depending on the increase in the temperature of the tip of second injector (166) up to a value higher than the threshold temperature value. At the same time, the pressure in the fuel rail is increased many times by repeatedly supplying the fuel by means of a high-pressure fuel pump, while maintaining the absence of a net flow through second injector (166). Fuel system for an internal combustion engine and a method of operating it are disclosed.
EFFECT: technical result is preventing the formation of fuel vapors inside the injector parts exposed to the heat of combustion inside the engine cylinders.
