SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in control systems of an internal combustion engine. There are proposed ways of operating the engine, according to which, when the engine is running, depending on the request to turn on the injection of gaseous fuel, delay the inclusion of the injection of gaseous fuel until the pressure in the intake air manifold reaches a certain threshold, and then inject the gaseous fuel when the pressure in the intake air manifold reaches a threshold value. With the help of the proposed methods, a reduction in the pressure drop across the gas nozzle between the pressure in the gas fuel rail and the pressure in the intake air manifold, which is necessary to ensure a stable opening of the gas injector without increasing the voltage applied to the gas injector.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to ensure the stability of the gas injector and, thus, the achievement of the necessary performance characteristics of the engine.
