SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines. Operating method is intended for an engine with a turbocharger with a bypass valve. Method means that, with the help of a controller including a permanent machine-readable medium, and basing on sensors for the engine temperature, the actuator position and the charger position, the ratio between the position of the actuator and the height of the flap of the bypass valve is determined when the engine is started in a certain temperature range of the engine. After starting, this ratio is changed basing on the difference between the required charging level and the actual measured charging level. Embodiment of the method for operating an engine with a turbocharger with a bypass valve and an internal combustion engine are disclosed.
EFFECT: technical result is providing the required level of charging having at high temperatures the possibility of deformation of the flap material and the mechanical connection between the flap and the actuator.
