FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines equipped with variable geometry turbochargers. This method for operation of engine system (10) consists in adjusting vanes (60) of turbine (16) in variable geometry turbocharger (13) to a closed position in response to accelerator pedal (154) being released. Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve (52) is adjusted from the fully closed position to the open position in response to accelerator pedal (154) being pressed. EGR valve (52) is in fluid communication with exhaust subsystem (106) upstream of turbine (16). Then, the magnitude of the delay is determined on the basis of the boost pressure. Vanes (60) are opened based on driver-requested torque (152), determined after a delay from the moment at which EGR valve (52) is adjusted to the open position. EGR valve (52) is controlled by means of controller (150) containing durable machine-readable medium (160). Disclosed are a version of the method for operation of the engine system and engine system.
EFFECT: prevention of jamming of vanes in a turbocharger with variable geometry when braking using the engine.
