SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a wrapper for a smoking article and to smoking articles containing such a wrapper. Smoking article comprises an aerosol generating substrate; mouthpiece; and a wrapper wrapped around at least a portion of the mouthpiece and at least a portion of the aerosol generating substrate, for securing the mouthpiece to the substrate generating the aerosol, the wrapper comprising sheet material extending in a first direction in which the wrapper is wrapped around the mouthpiece and the substrate generating the aerosol, and in the second direction perpendicular to the first direction; a window in the sheet material, while the window has a perimeter; wherein the perimeter comprises a first portion that defines the protrusion of the sheet material into the window; protrusion is limited by the first part of the perimeter and by a straight line forming a tangent to each end of the first part of the perimeter; and the distance between the straight line and the point on the first part of the perimeter, the furthest from the straight line in a direction perpendicular to the straight line, is less than 1 millimeter.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is to enable the consumer to visually inspect the portion of the tobacco rod lying under the wrapper.
