SUBSTANCE: disclosed is aerosol-forming article (10) comprising aerosol-forming substrate (12), mouthpiece (14) axially aligned with aerosol-forming substrate (12), and rim wrap (20) wrapped around mouthpiece (14) and at least a portion aerosol-forming substrate (12). Mouthpiece (14) comprises mouthpiece (30) surrounding one or more mouthpiece segments (16). Rim wrap (20) comprises at least one weakening line (22) passing in transverse direction around at least part of rim wrapper (20); located upstream portion (24) extending upstream of said at least one attenuation line; and detachable section (26) of rim wrapper extending downstream of said at least one attenuation line (22). Rim wrap (30) comprises at least one surface formation (28) lying under detachable section (26) of rim wrapper.

EFFECT: disclosed is an aerosol generating device having a mouthpiece with surface formations and a detachable portion of the rim wrapper.
