SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to pharmacology and to the non-medical use of a nutritional composition containing a nucleoside equivalent, selected from the group of nucleic bases, nucleosides, mononucleotides and their physiologically acceptable derivatives, which can be in vivo converted into a nucleoside per se or into a nucleotide per se, phospholipid, and choline, with the provision that the phospholipid is phosphatidylcholine and the weight ratio phosphatidylcholine to choline is more than 0.26 for increase or maintenance of body mass index in an elderly human, and wherein the composition is administered to the human in a diet without increasing the daily caloric intake. Nutritional composition for diet therapy of an elderly human comprises: uridine and/or uridine monophosphate, DHA and EPA, vitamin B, phospholipid, antioxidant selected from the group of vitamin C, vitamin E and selenium, choline, protein, where the mass ratio of phosphatidylcholine to choline is more than 0.26.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides increasing or maintaining lean body weight, improved activity of daily living of an elderly human.
