FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, specifically to ophthalmology, and can be used to determine the time of ultrasonic exposure in age-related cataract surgery. Lens is affected with pumping radiation at wavelengths of 320–350 nm. Fluorescence intensity is measured with a spectrometer at three different wavelengths. Based on the obtained data, the lens density index is calculated α. Time of ultrasonic action is determined using the equation of the regression curve according to the formula t(c) = (12.8 ± 2) ⋅ α0.8159.

EFFECT: method provides an increase in the accuracy of determining the dose of ultrasonic exposure in phacoemulsification of cataract through preoperative calculation of the lens density index.
