FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves building biomicroscopic lens slice image on display screen by means of computer analysis system. Maximum value of optical density is determined in anterior one third portion and posterior half of the lens nucleus on the central optical axis of the eye. Lens nucleus density is determined on the basis of maximum value of the optical density of the nucleus anterior one third and relation of the optical densities of the anterior one third and posterior half of the lens nucleus. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in diagnosing cataract maturity degree and determining tactics of cataract phacoemulsification. 1 tbl
