SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to automotive industry. According to a first option, a brake backing plate contains stamped metal sheets and non-compressible core material sandwiched between the above sheets. Stamped metal sheets contain textured face with a plurality of integrally formed piercing members. In the second option, the brake backing plate contains metal sheets of workpiece. In a first option, the method of manufacturing of brake backing plate includes following stages: a) placing the non-compressible core material on the first metal sheet; b) placing the non-compressible core material on the second metal sheet; c) and d) applying pressure to pierce non-compressible core material with the use of piercing elements. In a second option, the method of manufacturing of brake backing plate includes the core material solidification stage.

EFFECT: reduction of the brake backing plate weight is achieved with maintained reliability of brake backing plate.
