FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for polymerisation of an olefin. Method comprises feeding a circulating gas to a reactor. Circulation gas contains at least one alpha-olefin and an inert gas. In the reaction zone of the reactor, the alpha-olefin is polymerised into a polyolefin. Resulting polyolefin is discharged from the reactor. Polymerisation reactor consists of a cylindrical base section “a”, positioned in the lower part thereof, and a conical top section “b” positioned on the top of the cylindrical base section and having an open top Conical top section “b” has an angle of inclination in the range of 4-7° with respect to a perpendicular line. Inside of the reactor is divided into reaction region A, that is a fluidised bed region in which olefin polymerisation occurs, and free region B positioned on the top of reaction region A and having solid polyolefin particles separated from the gas phase. Fluidised bed is at least as high as cylindrical base section “a” and 5-80% the height of conical top section “b”. In fluidised bed A there is a traction pipe. Discharging part of the traction pipe is located on the boundary between cylindrical base section "a" and conical top section "b".

EFFECT: technical result is the production of a polyolefin with high productivity while simultaneously suppressing sheeting or caking in the reactor for a long time.
