SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a gas phase polymerization reactor and a method for producing an olefinic polymer. The gas phase polymerization reactor for the gas phase polymerization of olefins has at least one polymerization zone. The reactor is equipped with a recirculating line for withdrawing the reaction gas from the reactor, supplying the reaction gas to a heat exchanger for cooling, and supplying the reaction gas back to the reactor. The recirculating line is equipped with a heat exchanger, a centrifugal compressor and a butterfly valve. The centrifugal compressor has rotary adjustable blades of the inlet guide vanes. The rotary adjustable blades of the inlet guide vanes are made upstream of the centrifugal compressor. The butterfly valve is installed downstream of the centrifugal compressor. This method involves copolymerization of ethylene and one of the C2-C12 1-alkenes at a temperature from 20 to 200 °C and a pressure from 0.5 to 10 MPa in the presence of a polymerization catalyst. The polymerization is carried out in a gas phase polymerization reactor.

EFFECT: invention constitutes a polymerization process that makes it possible to control the gas rate in a simple manner by maintaining a constant pressure drop in the compressor or to vary the compressor pressure drop by maintaining a constant gas rate.
