FIELD: test and measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to test and measurement equipment, in particular to optical methods. Method for controlling the surface roughness of a part includes probing the surface to be examined with a stream with a jet structure, containing a mixture of chemically interacting gases, visualization of the informative parameter through the controlled area of the surface along the image of the brightness contrast of the projection of the chemical interaction zone of the gas mixture recorded in the optical wavelength range. Digital methods of processing the recorded brightness contrast are used, while the roughness of the surface is judged from the degree of distortion of the image of the brightness contrast as compared to the reference one.

EFFECT: technical result is the increase of information value and reliability of the test results.
