FIELD: instrument engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus for linear acceleration of protons in proton therapy. Linear proton accelerator includes a plurality of accelerator components arranged one behind the other and comprising a proton source and a plurality of accelerating units. Accelerator further includes a mesh support structure for supporting accelerator components. Support structure has the shape of a prism with a polygonal cross-section and a plurality of lateral faces connecting opposite ends of the prism. Lateral faces have openings in which a plurality of protective blocks made from the radiation protection material are installed. Support structure is concentric with respect to the accelerator components.
EFFECT: technical result is enabling installation of a linear proton accelerator in rooms with a limited volume.
