FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a polymer obtained by reacting: (a) dimeric unsaturated C12–C22 fatty acids, containing at least 90 wt. % of dimeric molecules, less than 5 wt. % of trimer molecules, and less than 5 wt. % of monomeric molecules and other by-products, with (b) at least one polyether of the general structural formula (I) (I), where R is C4 alkylene radical, and n is selected so that the said polyether has a number average molecular weight of 450–2,200 g/mol, wherein components (a) and (b) are used in a molar ratio of 0.7/2.3 to 1.3/1.7, and the resulting polymer has a number average molecular weight of 1500–5000 g/mol, and an acid number of less than 10 mg KOH/g. Colored aqueous base coating material is also described, characterized in that it comprises at least one polymer, obtained by reacting (a) dimeric fatty unsaturated C12–C22 acids containing at least 90 wt. % of dimer molecules, less than 5 wt. % of trimer molecules and less than 5 wt. % of monomeric molecules and other by-products, with (b) at least one polyether of the general structural formula (I) (I), where R is C3–C6 alkylene radical, and n is selected so that the said polyether has a number average molecular weight of 450–2,200 g/mol, while (a) and (b) are used in a molar ratio of 0.7/2.3 to 1.3/1.7, and the resulting polymer has a number average molecular weight of 1,500–5,000 g/mol and an acid number of less than 10 mg KOH/g; wherein the content of the said polymer is 0.1 to 30 wt. % based on the total weight of the colored aqueous base coating material. Use of the aforementioned polymer in the colored aqueous base coating materials for enhancing adherence has been described. Method for manufacturing a multilayer coating system by: (1) applying a colored aqueous base coating material onto the substrate, (2) forming a polymer film of the coating material that was applied in step (1), (3) applying a coating of varnish to the resulting base coat film, and then (4) curing the base coat film together with the coating varnish film, wherein the above colored base coating material is used in step (1), is described. Multilayer coating system obtained by the above method is described.
EFFECT: technical result is a coating with improved adhesion, a reduction in the incidence of blistering and bloating at the coating.
