DISPERSIONS OF POLYMERS WITH LARGE MOLECULAR WEIGHTS Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC C08F2/10 C08F220/60 C08L33/14

Abstract RU 2650117 C2

FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing polymer dispersion, to the polymer dispersion and to its use. Method for producing the polymer dispersion means that a reaction mixture comprising a polymeric dispersant and a monomer composition is first prepared containing a non-ionic and a cationic monomers capable of radical polymerization. If necessary, the reaction mixture is heated to a temperature above the room temperature. Monomers are then polymerized by sequential or simultaneous adding to the reaction mixture a predetermined amount of the redox initiating system containing an oxidizing reagent and a reducing agent of a predetermined amount of the first radical initiator, of a predetermined amount of the second radical initiator, which differs from the oxidizing reagent and from the first radical initiator. At least part of the predetermined amount of the redox initiating system, at least part of a predetermined amount of the first radical initiator and at least part of the predetermined amount of the second radical initiator are added to the reaction mixture before 90 mole% of the monomers originally contained in the monomer composition are polymerized. Then, if necessary, the residual monomer content is reduced by adding to the reaction mixture the remainder of the predetermined amount of the redox initiating system, of the remainder of the predetermined amount of the first radical initiator and/or the remainder of the predetermined amount of the second radical initiator and/or the third radical initiator. Polymer dispersion is used as a flocculant in the precipitation, flotation or filtration of solids, and also as retention or a drainage aid in the manufacture of paper.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain dispersions of polymers having a large molecular weight and improved characteristics under conditions of application of a shearing force.
