FIELD: nuclear engineering.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to control of reactivity of nuclear reactor core, namely to control dilution of boron during reactor downtime, method for controlling boron concentration in a reactor cooling system when the nuclear facility is idle, comprising the following steps: monitoring of the output signal representing the counting rate of the neutron detector of the source range located outside the reactor vessel in the vicinity of the core of the reactor, as a function of time for simple installation; control of the temperature of the coolant as a function of time; generating a compensation signal, applying a compensation signal to the counting rate output signal to obtain a compensated count rate output; identification of the preselected gain in the compensated count rate output. There is also another variant of the method.
EFFECT: group of inventions allows accurate and continuous monitoring of small changes in boron concentration.
