METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING LUNG HYPOPLASIA IN A DECEASED NEWBORN PATHWAY AFTER POSTMORTEM MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61B5/55

Abstract RU 2650981 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to neonatology, radiation diagnosis and pathological anatomy, and relates to a method for postmortem diagnosis of lung hypoplasia in a newborn. Essence of the method: magnetic resonance tomography of the thoracic cavity of the deceased newborn in T1 is performed, on the tomograms in the axial projection, the area of the right lung (RL) and left lung (LL) sections is determined at the levels of the maximum cutoff area and the internal perimeter of the thorax, on the basis of which the respiratory capacity of the lungs is calculated according to the formula: (RL + LL)/thorax. At values less than 5, the presence of lung hypoplasia is diagnosed as the immediate cause of neonatal death, with values of at least 5, a conclusion is made about the absence of lung hypoplasia as the immediate cause of death.

EFFECT: use of method allows for fast, objective, non-invasive diagnostics of lung hypoplasia, and thereby determine the immediate cause of death and links of tanatogenesis in the deceased newborn.
