EDGE DESIGN FOR REDUCING PHOTIC EFFECTS IN INTRAOCULAR LENSES Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61F2/16

Abstract RU 2651127 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine. Intraocular lens is made of a soft folding material and comprises an optical element, having an optical surface with a basic curvature, corresponding to the optical power of the optical element, the optical element having an edge thickness at the outer edge of the optical surface; the peripheral rim, made in the form of a ring surrounding the optical element, the peripheral rim has a maximum thickness; and a portion, having a reduced thickness, outside the optical surface of the optical element, between the peripheral rim and the optical element. Peripheral rim has a constant curvature of the outer edge, having an extension from the anterior and to the posterior surface of the intraocular lens and intersecting each surface at the respective height. Outer edge with constant curvature has a constant radius and does not contain tangents that are parallel to the optical axis of the optical element. Section, having a reduced thickness, is made in one piece with a peripheral rim and an optical element and has a reduced thickness in comparison with the maximum thickness of the peripheral rim and the thickness of the edge of the optical element.

EFFECT: application of this invention will reduce unwanted light effects.
