FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: intraocular lens (IOL) is made of a folding material and comprises: an optical element with an anterior optical surface of a first basic curvature and a posterior optical surface of a second basic curvature, wherein the diameter of the posterior optical surface is greater than the diameter of the anterior optical surface; and the first basic curvature and the second basic curvature jointly determine the optical strength of the optical element; and a peripheral rim extending between the anterior optical surface and the posterior optical surface and crossing each surface at the corresponding vertex. The peripheral rim therein forms a cross-section with a constant curvature of the outer edge thereof with a constant radius, wherein the outer edge is free from tangents parallel to the optical axis of the optical element.

EFFECT: application of the invention will allow for a reduction in the amount of light effects.
