FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for contact spot welding of sheet, bar billets. Cavity of the electrode-cap from the rear end is made conical, turning into a cavity of a cylindrical shape. Hollow electrode holder has a corresponding conical surface in its front part. Refrigerant supply tube is installed in the cavity of the holder with a sealed annular gap. Bottom of the cavity of the electrode is made with a cavity in the form of a truncated cone directed toward the front end of the electrode. Front ends of the holder and tube are formed with the formation of an axial gap with respect to the surface of this cavity. Bottom of the electrode cavity can be formed with a protuberance of a conical shape, the diameter of the base of which is less than or equal to the diameter of the cylindrical cavity. Front ends of the holder and tube are formed to form an axial clearance with respect to the surface of said projection.
EFFECT: invention provides for the elimination of stagnant zones with a refrigerant in the cavity of the electrode, an increase in the area of its cooled surfaces.
