SUBSTANCE: essence of this method lies in the fact that two diagnostic features are checked to determine the malfunction of the power source: switching of the source to the motoring mode and presence or absence of the recovery of electric energy into the power grid from the energy consumers. In case of establishing the presence of energy recovery, a source that has switched to the motoring mode is diagnosed as operable. In the absence of recovery, the source is deemed to be faulty and disconnected from the mains, but not with a delay of the time set by the time of electric energy recovery (usually 6–10 s), but at the moment of its switching to the motoring mode.
EFFECT: increase in the speed of protection of ship power plants with parallel running power sources in the event of failure of one of them.
