FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved process for the preparation of secondary amines. Amines produced are used in the pharmaceutical, agricultural and plastics industries. Method consists in hydrogenating carbonitriles with molecular hydrogen in the presence of a nanoscale nickel catalyst, in which nickel nanoparticles are immobilized on a zeolite, predominantly NaX grades. According to the method, the reactants are fed directly to the catalyst by two streams, the first of which is hydrogen supplied at a flow rate of 1,500–2,000 ml/(kgcat⋅h), the second – nitrile, supplied at a flow rate of 0.9–2.7 ml/(kgcat⋅h), and the reaction is carried out at a temperature of 200–220 °C. Catalyst is prepared by impregnating the zeolite with an aqueous solution of nickel chloride hexahydrate, with subsequent reduction of nickel ions by sodium tetrahydroborate in water and drying the resulting catalyst in a stream of hydrogen just before the reaction. Method makes it possible to obtain secondary amines of a symmetric structure with high yield (64.4–97 %) and high selectivity.
