FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol, comprising reacting furfuryl alcohol with molecular hydrogen in the presence of a nickel-containing catalyst, wherein the catalyst used is nickel nanoparticles immobilized on magnesium oxide, the reagents are fed directly to the catalyst in two streams, the first of which is hydrogen fed at a flow rate of 290 l/(kgcat⋅h), second is furfuryl alcohol fed at rate of 0.13 l/(kgcat⋅h), and reaction is carried out at temperature 200 °C. This method enables to obtain tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol, which is widely used in industry as a solvent in organic synthesis, as well as industrial additives for prevention of formation of crystals in aviation fuels.
EFFECT: simple method of hydrogenating furfuryl alcohol and high output of the end product per unit time.
