SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol generating system, aerosol generating article, and a method for controlling the stoichiometry of the reaction between nicotine vapor and lactic acid vapor in the aerosol generating system for local (in situ) formation of an aerosol, containing particles of nicotine salt of lactate. Aerosol generating system comprises an aerosol generating article comprising a cartridge including a first part containing a nicotine source; a second part, containing a source of lactic acid; and a cavity for one heater therein configured to heat the nicotine source and the source of lactic acid; wherein said first part and the second part are arranged in parallel within the cartridge; and an aerosol generating device comprising one heater.

EFFECT: technical results of the invention are the creation of an aerosol generating system intended for local (in situ) formation of an aerosol, containing a nicotinic salt and having a simple heating mechanism, and creating such an aerosol generating system, which would be able to provide effective stoichiometry of the reaction and stable delivery of nicotine to a user.
