SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, specifically to a cartridge assembly to be used in an aerosol generating system and an aerosol-forming system. Assembly has a near end and a far end. Assembly comprises cartridge, which comprises first compartment having first inlet air hole and first outlet air hole. Cartridge includes the second compartment having the second inlet air hole and the second outlet air hole. Unit comprises a mouthpiece surrounding the cartridge and having a third outlet air hole. Cartridge and mouthpiece have the possibility of longitudinal movement relative to each other between the retracted position, in which the proximal end of the mouthpiece adjoins the near end of the cartridge, and an extended position, in which the proximal ends of the mouthpiece and the cartridge are spaced from each other in a longitudinal direction, so that a chamber communicating with the first, second and third outlet air holes is formed between them. In the retracted position, the first and second inlet air holes are closed by the mouthpiece and the third outlet air hole is closed by the cartridge, and in extended position enabling air to be drawn into said chamber along first air passage extending from first inlet air opening through first compartment to first outlet air opening, and a second air passage extending from the second air inlet opening through the second compartment to the second air outlet opening, and releasing air from said chamber through the third air outlet opening. Aerosol-generating system comprises a cartridge assembly and an aerosol-generating device comprising a cavity configured to receive the cartridge assembly and a heater for heating the first compartment and/or the second cartridge portion of the cartridge assembly.

EFFECT: technical result is possibility of retention, during storage, of sufficient amount of nicotine and volatile substance to improve delivery without using detachable or brittle partitions.
