SUBSTANCE: invention relates to encoding with prediction using motion compensation. Method for interpolating images based on subpixel units using an interpolation filter based on a transform is proposed, according to an interpolation location of the sub-pixel units in the region supported by the interpolation filters to form at least one pixel value of the sub-pixel unit located between the pixels of the pixel units, selecting a symmetric or asymmetric interpolation filter individually relative to the location of the interpolation from the number of interpolation filters; and generating at least one pixel value of the sub-pixel unit by interpolating the pixels of the pixel units by using the selected interpolation filter.
EFFECT: technical result is more accurate prediction based on effective interpolation of images.
