FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: in an optical modulator of light, the modulation occurs by rotating a movable polarizer in the form of a disk with respect to a stationary polarizer. To reduce moments of frictional forces preventing the disk rotation, according to the first variant, a conical or spherical protrusion is provided at one or both sides of the disk in one direction. According to the second variant, the disk is provided with magnetic material protrusions on one or both sides, and in the modulator walls opposite to these protrusions, regions of magnetic material are made so that they can or could be magnetized in one direction.
EFFECT: invention relates to processing of optical information.
