FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: drum is rotatable about the center line of the drum and comprises a rigid support surface for the tyre component located on the outwardly facing peripheral surface of the drum. The drum comprises two support elements which are spaced apart from each other in a substantially longitudinal direction of the drum. Each of the support elements comprises a tread support surface which faces away from the drum center line and the tread support surfaces are movable radially between a retracted position in which the tread support surface will be located at a rigid support surface or adjacent to a rigid support surface and an elevated position in which the tread support surface will be located in the radially outer position with respect to the rigid support surface.
