SUBSTANCE: in the present application, proposed is a card reader that prevents a reduction in the overall inductance of the coils forming means for generating a disturbing magnetic field even if it is not possible to provide sufficient space for the installation of the coils, means for generating a disturbing magnetic field, wherein such a space is in close proximity to the card insertion hole and near the position through which the magnetic strip passes. Card reader (1) contains : card insertion hole (3) into which card (2) having magnetic strip (2a) is inserted; hole for the card through which card (2) is transmitted, being inserted from card insertion hole (3); and means (7) for generating a disturbing magnetic field that generate a magnetic field to interfere with the magnetic data recorded on magnetic strip (2a) illegally. Means (7) for generating a disturbing magnetic field are provided with a plurality of coils (11, 12) connected in series and control circuit (15) which comprises capacitor (19) connected in parallel with a plurality of coils (11, 12) and which supplies a current to a plurality of coils (11, 12).
EFFECT: preventing the reduction of the overall inductance of the coils.
